think they are still with the Blue and Gold Macaws

They're in with the blue-throated macaws.

I think it's more than possible that whatever the new species is that it could be staying off-show, it will still do the zoo good to announce it as aquiring new species is always good publicity for Chester :)

The arrival of the Aardvarks was announced quite a while before they went on show...

Surely if this new arrival was to be kept off show then the zoo would hardly be announcing it on their Facebook page...
Because the zoo has got alot of new species arriving to go in Islands,it is sometimes easier for the zoo to take animals, when they become available now, than to take a chance on them not being able, when the zoo has built Islands,if the zoo all ready has them off-show then they do not have to worry about having,to find the species once islands is open, and why would the zoo annouce a species that isn't going on-show until Islands is done is very simple really,it keeps the HYPE of Islands going while its under construction.

Just a thought here if the zoo is getting species in for the Islands developement now just in case they are not around when the project is finished will the zoo have enough off show area to keep the animals in a adiquate area or will they just loan them out to other zoos as some collections do while waiting for projects to be completed.

EDIT - I was just wondering NOT knocking the zoo.

Are we playing 'I know something you don't know' again? Always a favourite zoochat game...

Tongue firmly planted in cheek - oh yes what a marvellous game it is, I so look forward to it, trying to remember the last time I play the "nah nahdy nah nah game..." oh yes when I was about 7 years old.... bloody riles me it does..just don't bloody say anything if you know you can't it's really not that hard...sheesh!!!

Are the Dik Dik still there we haven't seen them for a while.
I know they are timid and don't like the cold.

Chester has plenty of places that they can keep animals off-show or even hidden in plain view from people so,yes they have the room to keep them and keep them well.I doubt that they will loan any of them out to other collections,as that will mean they do not have full control of when the animal will move into Islands or anyother part of the zoo that, will become free after species already in the zoo have moved to Islands!

In the same place they have been for well over a month now!In fact if you know the zoo well its very easy to work out which part of the zoo they are in!!

And for those who don't know the zoo that well but may be visiting, where should we be looking?

well that answers that question thanks
Thats why I always have a look at an area the zoo has fenced off or put a new lot of screening up,because you never know what might be hiding in the area,in fact I always have a look at any change in the zoo,as it often means something is going to change.

Well it doesn't take that much working out its African hoofstock and the zoo no longer keeps any Lechwe, and something had to fill the space. Also Maguari did drop a rather big hint over the type of Antelope used on the new map at the zoo.
