ZG - remind me to teach you about answering a simple bloody question one of these days! :D

bluetoffeezoo/Mr T - the kudu are in the old wallaby paddock that was latterly home to the lechwe (the long thin one between the Roan and the crane paddocks). JR's photo was, I believe, taken from across the crane paddocks as they are not yet properly on show. :)

thankyou Maguari, doesn't take much to be civil and helpful

The Zoo are reporting via Facebook/Twitter that one of the new arrivals are three (2.1) Red Duiker from Germany - Excellent news!

Two new species of antelope makes Maguari happy. Not sure how long it will be before duikers are on show, however - could be quite a while.

When they go on show I'll be camped out at the okapi enclosure. I have never seen a duiker, and I'm not going to miss them this time round.

Any quantity of duikers, offshow or not, are a great addition to the collection in my opinion. Maybe this time I'll make a point of photographing them when/if they go onshow, rather than last time round when I did actually see the duiker, but at that time didn't realise how special it was and so passed it off as "just some more hoofstock" and didn't bother getting a photo!

In my defence it *was* only my second or so visit to Chester.

Its strange that though I regularly saw the blue duiker at Colchester I didn't really appreciate them as being such a rarity until I discovered zoochat a couple of years ago! These duiker will be a good addition to the collection, i hope they're on show by the time i visit next!

Being an ungulate fan, the kudu and duiker are for me great additions to the collection at Chester, keep them coming guys.

It is great news - saw both species whilst in South Africa in 2010 in the wild - well I think that Duiker was a blue one but still a beautiful little antelope!
Kudu I feel a bit guilty in saying actually taste rather lush....

I'm interested to know if the little feisty one is the female! It was the little one that kept charging me when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

Not as exciting as the new arrivals, but 3 male Vicuna have left the collection and gone to Trotters World of Animals in the Lake District.

Thats good news for people in the Lakes.
I hope someone keeps us informed on the progress.
