The other thing that works quite well is for each Rhino to wear a little hat with 'Different One' on it
 
Teach them to speak... far easier, until they get the hang of telling you the wrong name on purpose :p

Easy, the greyish ones with pointy bits up front are rhino, tubey ones are elephants.

Getting back to news there is a blacksmith lapwing in Tsavo aviary.

Its a pity the shop is full of tat!


Ref. rhino`s........simply number them...1, 2,3 etc with white gloss paint.

Phew - I was worrying where I could get another 3 foot tall metal elephant statue from as I always carry one when I visit the zoo!! :D

I like the new shop, huge improvement on the last one - it's the kind of "head up own arse" total bollocks that the press description is that I hate :)

I hate to admit it but the new font is growing on me ever so slightly, but it does need to be used in a subtle way otherwise it's annoying. Some of it is quite clever design wise.

Still want the ark back though :(

and the little wooden rhino that some swine has stolen from the roundabout on the way in too - why oh why can't people just be happy admiring it - no they have to swipe it - buggers, I hope they got an ENORMOUS splinter!!

I really like the new shop, it's easily the best part of what is otherwise a really dull, colourless entrance. The existence of a "proper" building for the good people of Members and Adoptions is also welcome.
 
Spotted today in the large Aviary in Islands in Danger,was a Bat flying about,looking at I think it was a native Bat that had some how got into the Aviary but couldn't get out!
 
Visited today (first time since March); a few comments:-

BAD
Bemused, baffled and bewildered by the new entrance arrangements! Feel sorry for the ticket checking staff left standing in the open, whatever the conditions! Is allowing free public access to the Elephant House sensible in view of the behaviour of some members of the public?
Very disappointed by the shop. Where have the books gone? From 80% tat : 20% decent stuff we seem to have moved to 95% : 5%.

GOOD
Nice to see the cheetah and tiger youngsters progressing; meerkats not my favourite species but the tinies are indubitably cute; saw both bears; saw 8 rhinos!; our unicornis seem not so much compatible as inseparable!!; delightred to see a young Oryx - when did that arrive? Dinosaurs are fun, and educative.

QUESTION
Do we still have two okapi?
 
Should still be two Okapi, they do occasionaly have one or both off show from time to time though... maybe you just caught them on one of these days
