Can somebody tell me if it's true that elephant Thi is pregnant?

I don't think she actually is. Different sources within the zoo have said different things about it, but according to keepers (last time I asked) it is just Sithami and Sundara.

Picture on Chester's Facebook of the new melanistic female jaguar who arrived from France - called Goshi.

They had several to choose from but went for the one with a name ending in i to please SMR!

Not being too familiar wih Chester's current Jags, does this mean they now have two pairs of Black/normal?

Great news going to pop up asap :)

Had a quick visit yesterday, just a little thing, but wish the zoo would clamp down on smoking around the grounds think it would help if it was advertised at the entrance more about thei smoking zones. I was trying to look at the Tigers, pushing my 10 week old and at least 2 people smoking on the platform.

1.1 Philippine Spotted Deer have arrived, joining the mother and youngster already at the zoo. Work is being carried out in the former Bongo/Crane exhibits.

I believe this has been asked previously, but does anyone know what is being built behind the currently vacated bongo paddock by what was the old South Entrance? It's a wooden building that looks suspiciously like it could be yet another off-show aviary.

Its a replacement for the off-show Crane aviarys, that will be lost once Islands is started!

Thank you, that makes sense. Those former wallaby enclosures have been home to all sorts of things; cranes, hamerkop and various waterfowl last time I was back there.

Has anyone seen the new female Jaguar yet?
I,ve been twice but not managed to see her
Just checking that she is on show:)
going to try again tomorrow:)

Has anyone seen the new female Jaguar yet?
We saw both newly arrived jaguars on Saturday. The female is about nine months old and looks quite small, but has a rather aloof expression. The male we only spotted at a distance in the outdoor enclosure.

thanks thats great hopefully will see her tomorrow:)

Visited a very busy Chester. Managed to see Napo the new Jaguar and Majorie the Malayan Tapir who was having lots of fun chasing the Pigeons in her outdoor enclosure. No sign of Goshi the new female Jaguar, but was told by a keeper she is quite shy and is yet to venture out much. Did notice a poster advertising something called Bugs a new attraction for the summer which looks like it will be this years alternative to the dinosaurs. Also noticed that flowers had been placed near the memorial for Richard Hughes on the twelve anniversary of his tragic death.
