It is expected to be open in the summer - tapir house and enclosure, walk through aviary and bear/binturong enclosure.

The zoo is often not very forthcoming with news.

On my last visit on6th November work was progressing very quickly on the tapir exhibit. The work can be seen from the entrance to Monsoon forest and from the bridge.
Good to see work is getting on well across the zoo as long as I get a Tapir and Sun bear enclosure with two new species in the core zoo in their old enclosures I'm happy!

It seems to me very strange that in the social media geared world that we are now in that the zoo do not provide more frequent updates. if they want to continue the success of the channel 4 documentary series into the future they must try to retain interest. I would hate to see the series be a 3 or 4 series span and then die off. Little snippets be it monthly photos or whatever of the developments currently happening in islands would be rather engaging

New enclosures will be a yes,but if I were you I wouldn't put any money on new species going in the old enclosures.

Really why not it could be a Sun bear situation that surprised us all, you never know

Of course: but if you look at the fence around the old tiger/sun bear/binturong exhibit you will not be surprised by the idea that it is ripe for redevelopment. The consequences of moving animals to Islands are not just bringing in new species, but providing elbow room to redevelop older parts of the zoo.

True true Redeveloping that area would be good with europe on the edge moving to the old condor Enclosure, it can become a large and expansive enclosure for a terrestrial mammal

There are no known plans for anything to go into the sun bear and tapir enclosures once they have moved; the sun bear enclosure dates from 1986 and was itself a rebuild of an exhibit opened in the 1950s. the tapir enclosure is part of a building opened in 1950 and long past its sell by date.

Well if both are redone to make way for new areas, what will happen to the congo buffalo? Either the house will be revamped for them or they will move on? Or to the oryx paddock

I also understand completely those are old enclosures that do need a change, I've a feeling the old tiger/sun bear enclosure will join with EOTE and the Cattle Barn will be either revamped or demolished for a new building

Not even in the right building try Tropical Realm and try the species that lives with the Dart Frogs
Ha, my mistake. Shows how long it's been since I last visited the zoo I had no idea they lived in tropical realm sorry it looked like one in Monsoon Forest to me so I just assumed, oh well.

No, they've been in a much larger space to the right of the miniature train station and owl aviaries for some years now.

Cotswold have only had Binturong for a few months :p so I suspect your statement is in error! All the information I have heard suggests that pipaluk is correct and that they are indeed held in the old Lar Gibbon cage.

I will be visiting CWP in a month or so, if all goes well, so I shall be able to conclusively resolve the matter then.

SMR may be referring to the Wolverines?
I don't think the Binturong were on show in August, although someone may put me right on that.
