Thank you where would I find them in Chester would you know?

Unless there is something I don't know, you would not find them in Chester zoo. As far as I am aware they do not have inca terns.

You are correct GentleLemur, it looks like Bristol to me also.

Well thanks @bongorob you know lots about Chester's collection I had a look at some of the old images from 2007 and it's amazing how the collection has progressed Cannot wait to see how it goes further next year.

Gabe is actually sired by Kifaru not Magadi :)

from the zoos website:

  • Gabe was born on January 16
  • Mum Ema Elsa is 13-years-old. She was born on 02/11/2002 and has now had three calves at Chester Zoo – Bashira, Chanua and Gabe
  • Dad Kifaru is 31-years-old (born 21/10/1984). He arrived at Chester Zoo in 2014 from Hannover Zoo in Germany. He has now sired four calves with this being his first at Chester Zoo. His other offspring are called Samira, Saya and Taco
  • The arrival of Gabe brings the total number of Eastern black rhinos at Chester Zoo to 10

Is Kifaru`s daughter Samira now at Flamingo Land by any chance or is this another individual ? Fingers x for more Kifaru offspring at Chester in the near future :)

Hello all I read another thread Chimpanzees in the UK and someone stated that Kiki died last week can anyone confirm this?

Yes Samira is Kifaru's daughter. Born at Hannover in March 2001

I think you must be correct, the description of the enclosure certainly fits the wolverine one!
I've just looked a my photos and of course, you're both correct, they're wolverines. I've no idea how I've managed to confuse the two, so apologies to all.

Well it looks to me as if Chester is soon to make an announcement about its Palawan Binturongs based on this tweet:

Chester Zoo on Twitter

However, what makes this sub species different other than its size that we have already talked about? Is it more endangered?

Anyone know of when either elephant calf is due? Sithami & Sundara are apparently expecting, Due to various setbacks a visit has been ruled out until next year so i`m out of the loop :( all news greatly appreciated
I don't know how reliable this information is but I was talking to someone in the sales team who said that one calf was expected in December and the other in January.

Wait Brownie have you been recently then??
No I was last there about six months ago. I've been holding off in the hope of going once both calves have been born. However, I was given those dates when I spoke to someone from Chester via email at the beginning of October...

Understandable, let's hope they are born soon, actually who ever goes to the zoo could you give us an update into the condition of he elephants and how well they pregnancy is going please?

@Charlie Simmomds I would trust what was said in the Chimpanzees in the UK thread re Kiki's death. Andy B knows his stuff when it comes to chimpanzees and the only way he would know about this is if he was told by a member of staff.

Tonight's episode of Secret Life Of The Zoo confirmed that female Bornean Orang, Sarikei is pregnant with male, Willie who came from Apenhuel in 2014 as the dad. It is expected in late spring 2017.
