The banteng were out in force yesterday. Anyone know when the youngest calf was born? Looked really young.
I thought the same when I visited on friday, he still looked a bit wobbily. So maybe sometime last week?

female and baby with the otters by RORA
other female and 2 babies behind giraffe house
Is it likely they will join the 2 females and offspring to form a larger group? Howletts used to have a large group of babirusa - would be more impactful for Islands.
In other news.....
Roan antelope calf born.
New roof complete on Tsavo aviary- no more sparrows!
Kitani's horn has fallen off - sign inside says vets don't know why but she is fine.
Male one horned rhino was stuck in enclosure fence for over an hour last week before being rescued.
Chimps have been locked inside for a while now - anyone know why they not allowed outside?
Have only seen 1 sloth on recent visits- has the other been hiding or is it kept separately?
I've never noticed Zootierliste listing Chester as holding the grey-winged blackbird (Turdus boulboul) before. Is this a recent addition?
They have never held that species to the best of my knowledge, if they are on Zootierlist then they are a new addition to the zoo.
1.1 blue-crowned Hanging Parrots (Loriculus galgulus) are on show in Realm of the Red Ape.
Chester achieved the UK first breeding of hanging parrots in 1959 when a male blue-crowned and a female Sri Lankan reared two chicks from four hatched.
They habve not bred hanging parrot since. Perhaps they will have better luck witht his pair.
