The last Chester thread is now 13 pages long so I thought it was time for a new one.

News from a visit by Bongorob and Zoogiraffe on 7th June 2014.

The pair of red forest duikers has been moved from the enclosure by the canal to the Okapi House and they have settled in well.

The house for the Aloatran gentle lemurs was cordoned off and the windows have been covered over, with a few viewing holes.

The baby giant anteater is now in the long, narrow enclosure between the vicunas and the crazy golf.

I saw one bongo. :)

We saw the hawk owl chick. Other recent hatchings are waldrapp ibis and white-faced whistling ducks.

The viv formerly housing the eyelash viper is being refurbished and across the path from there, the rhinoceros ratsnake viv is empty, it currently has no roof.

Does Aung Bo usually spend the day with the female elephants in the big paddock?

hehe so 13 pages is the limit for how long a UK zoo news thread can be?:p What happens if this is surpassed? Do zombie Marbled Cats owned by the redheads of Scotland rain terror upon small country towns?

No it is not the limit, but Sim prefers a lot of short threads.

Hel is not Scottish :p

Technically speaking, she is half-Welsh.

Who said I was referring to Hel?;)

I'm sure there's a perfectly healthy population of soulless Scottish redheads ready to command the Melbourne zombie army.

Many Scots are not red-headed and none of the Scots I have met show signs of having more or less soul than anyone else. But you must remember that Scotland is the home of the deep-fried Mars bar, so on average the population is significantly less healthy than those of most other European countries.

I just saw an episode of QI last night where they were discussing how everything in Scotland is deep-fried and how most chip shops sell deep-fried Mars bars!!

Also, TeaLovingDave, I can't decide whether describing someone as "half-Welsh" is an insult or a compliment....

On my recent trip to Edinburgh, purchasing my own deep-fried confection, I was treated to the glorious sight of an American tourist in a Scottish chip shop.

"Hi, can I get a deep-fried Mars bar and a coffee?"
"Sorry, we don't do coffee."
*uncomprehending silence*
"We've got beer..?"

Not on topic at all, of course...

Well first you have to freeze it,then when its ordered take it out of the freezer put it in batter and then deep fry it!!
I didn't know they were frozen first but that makes sense. I had wondered why it didn't just melt into a puddle. I guess it is the same with deep-fried ice-cream then?

Not had that one so cannot answer that, but would guess that it would work just the same as it does for the Mars Bar.

The zoo have announced via Facebook that a four-year-old male Spectacled Bear, 'Bernardo', has arrived from Tulsa as a companion for the lone female, Franka.
