Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Cleveland Metroparks Zoo News 2014

Did Cleveland Zoo have secretary birds on its African Savanna once? Team Tapir 223 posted that in the "Animals no longer at your zoo you;d like to see there again..." thread.
Did they have a capybara in the Pachyderm Bldg in 2008? I think I saw one when I was in there for Trunk Party.

Secretary birds, I'm nope sure. Capybara in the Pachyderm Building at Trunk Party? Nope! I was also there for TP, and the only animals in the PB were: The 3 elephants, Blackie and I don't exactly 100% remember, but some kind of hog.

I think it was red river hog because of that special Frogs, Hogs and Dogs event. Anyway, I must have been thinking about the capybara in the National Zoo's elephant/pachyderm house.

In 2008 there were definitely capybara in the old tapir exhibit. They only lived there during that year though. The old warthog exhibit had red river hogs then too.

Yes, for summer of 08 they shipped the warthogs (next to the elephants) out, got red river hogs from Cincy, and shipped them out after Trunk Party on 8/23/08, when the Pachyderm closed. Capybara were in the former tapir yard, or the former pygmy hippo (and then tapir) yard?

Yesterday at the Rainforest, there was a sign at the former reticulated python exhibit. It was for Burmese python, but only the name and the class REPTILE were there. Does anyone (TT223, BR or some other local Zoochatter especially) know anything about this?

Was the ELephant Statue there?
