Alfred the Andean Bear passed away from kidney failure while staying at the Beardsley Zoo in CT. (Link to the post where I learned)

Are you sure? From the looks, it seems like it was a female named Cayenne, not Alfred.

Two posts above the one you quoted @Zoo fanatic said Alfred was humanely euthanized (you even liked their post).

Alfred one of two Andean bears that recently arrived was humanely euthanized due to extreme old age after a medical exam showed he was in kidney failure.

And then @ZooElephantsMan asked for info about the remaining bear.

That is sad news. Do you know the age, sex, and name of the remaining bear? I didn’t even know that a transfer had already occurred, as it hadn’t been reported on earlier in this thread.

I wonder if the zoo will get another Andean Bear. Without Alfred or Scruffy (Doubt they'd move her again at her age) it's just the 2 Sloth Bears and Cayanne.

Bear Hollow is set to feature both Andeans (and Sloth bears) so I’d assume so.

Twins born at Salisbury, National, and San Diego this year, so there will be bears available for placement in the not too distant future - to say nothing of the possibility of another import occurring if a bear is available
