Detroit Zoo Detroit Zoo

The Detroit Zoo tapirs are currently in a holding cage behind the Guanaco buildings. You can only see them if you go on the train that goes behind the Guanaco exhibit.

Are those new tapirs or were they there this summer? I was there and asked a keeper about where the tapirs were and he told me one had pass and the other was sent to another zoo.

I don't know, but I imagine that they are the same ones that were in the current Bush Dog habitat, by the anteaters. Whoever they are, they are Brazilian Tapirs. That's all I know.

Warthog quints were born in April to parents Linus and Lilith. Lucy, Carter and Sam are now on exhibit with mom while smaller and weaker sisters Diane and Vera continue to be hand reared until they are strong enough to rejoin their mom, dad, aunt Rebecca, older sister Violet and the rest of the quints.

I don't know about the hippos... I think they would replace the crocodiles in a few years. For the eland... I'm pretty sure they're Giant eland, but I don't know. I will be going to the zoo in a few weeks and I will post pictures.
