Dudley have said the 2 hybrid females are to keep the bull company until two pure bred females arrive.
This is a move that has been agreeded with the current studbook holder, and has been done so that another collection in the UK,can move out its Hybrid Giraffes so that it can bring in another pure group of Reticulated Giraffes into the UK,the 2 female Hybrids at Dudley will move to another collection as soon as more pure Rothschilds become available for Dudley! The arrival of 2 female giraffe somewhat puzzles me ...
I know the story of companionship for the pure-bred (and proven) bull, yet it begs 2 question:
A) Are the females sterilised since they are both hybrids.
B) What is the future timeline planning for introduction of the on wish list pure-bred females?
Looks like there could be something new going into where the macaques were as new posts are in place, so it looks like the enclosure is being extended.........
It will be the Macaques moving back in once the exhibit has been extended.Which will then give the zoo 2 empty enclosures in the monkey house for 2 species new to Dudley, but seeing as none of the Dudley regulars have mentioned anything about these species arriving I will not say what they are!
I do my best but then I don`t post everything I`m told by staff when I visit a place as its often off the record, and I want them to be able trust me with what they tell me!You always get all the juicy news!
