babirusa, anoa, most (all?) of the macaques, bear cuscus, dwarf cuscus, tarsier, a fair number of birds, at least some of the reptiles.
If you mean overall numbers of individuals in captivity then only a few of those would qualify (babirusa, anoa, macaques, some of the birds), but if you mean in captivity irrespective of numbers then you could do a really good Sulawesi exhibit.

Agreed. It won't be a knock-your-socks-off exhibit, but it would be a nice one.
I would phrase it a "specialist" exhibit, because most of the species would be ones to appeal to lovers of the unusual; not so much for average zoo visitors.
Europe has bears, bison, deer, etc. More public-pleasing I think. You could potentially also include things like lions to provide a historical subtext.

Well, it´s overlooked in the US, there are hundreds of wildlife parks focused only in local species in Europe. You could just look in the Gallery or the Forums.
In terms of Species you have European Brown Bear, Iberian Wolf, Red Fox, European Beaver, Moose, Red Deer, Fallow Deer (almost a native), European Badger, European Mink, Iberian Lynx, European Lynx, Roe Deer, Chamois, Alpine Ibex, Spanish Ibex, European Otter, European Mole, European Hedgehog, Barbary Macaque
P), Alpine Marmot, Polar Bear, Golden Jackal, Artic Fox, Pine Marten, Common Genet, Egyptian Mongoose (almost a native), Scotish Wildcat, European Wildcat, Musk Ox, Wisent, Eastern Harbour Seal...

Well, I've decided to go with Europe. I figure I will give updates along the way.
Phase 1. Bubble design.
Basic overall layout and concepts. 6 major regions represented.
1. Iberia
2. Alps
3. Black Forest
4. Scandinavia
5. Danube Delta
6. Steppe
Each region should have key species and supporting species. At least half of the regions need cultural elements and amenities.
Size ~20 acres.

Why focus on political divisions? Of course I'm already hearing it from a few UK people for leaving out their country

I never objected, I totally understand that we're just not good enough for your exhibit!
On a serious note though, we both know that there isn't much point in a UK section when you can just stick species in the other areas.
I believe he's working with more realistic components so what we have in America (or where ever his zoo is) is what he can put in the exhibit.
@BZF, I love all of those ideas! By the way, how are you doing with your Japanese exhibit?

Sounds interesting. The camargue is reasonably well known for there semi-wild camargue horse, coypus, and ferocious mosquitoes.
I should be visiting the area in a few weeks, need any help with fauna that stands out?
There is so much wrong with that sentence it's unbelievable. For a start, what happened to punctuation? And I find it rich that a New Zealander can even say we're tucked away, most people think your country is just part of Australia...
As for down there? We're on the top of the world and you guys are languishing on the bottom!
Other than that, I'm looking forward to the finished exhibit design!
