European Badgers at least don't look intimidating. Most people associate them with British children's books and "Mushroom, mushroom".

Yeah, they are seen as quite humble and shy in some books (Fantastic Mr Fox, for example.)
American Badger isn't exactly the ferocious animal they're often made out to be either - they're tough and scrappy when necessary to be sure, but they're often pretty easy going.
