Yeah, they are seen as quite humble and shy in some books (Fantastic Mr Fox, for example.)European Badgers at least don't look intimidating. Most people associate them with British children's books and "Mushroom, mushroom".
A splendid example of British irony: because there are ants, beetles, spiders, a coconut crab (which I have never seen), millipedes and even killifish and one or two electric blue geckos - but I don't recall ever seeing a true bug therePaignton Zoo be like:

I'd imagine that a fair number of zoos also have both African and Asian Elephant [though of course, the forest elephant is essentially non-existent in captivity]
