The Small Carnivore complex, home to smaller cats, foxes, etc., will be demolished in the near future.

LITTLE ROCK NOTEBOOK: Zoo to demolish small carnivore area | Library system to host local artists

I wondered aloud during my review of Little Rock several months ago when exactly the curtain would close for these exhibits, considering it's been the tentative plan for over a decade now. While I'm glad they're committed to progress, I also hope they are able to find the funds to eventually replace the species and enclosures lost with something new and worthwhile.

Is there where the Bush Dogs are located?
No, the bush dogs are located in the bear grottos. So thankfully this rare to find species will remain at least for the time being.
Per my visit to the Little Rock Zoo in December, about half of the exhibits in the small carnivores "loop" were blocked off and empty. The only animals that remained in the area were clouded leopards, caracals, ocelot, fossa, red fox, and grey fox. Unfortunately during my visit, of those animals only the grey fox was visible.

That's an interesting lineup of species. When I visited the zoo in 2012, the 'Small Carnivore' complex held these species: Capybara, Reeve's Muntjac, Binturong, Coati, Indian Crested Porcupine, Red Fox, Bobcat, Serval, Clouded Leopard, Ocelot and Caracal.

On that same day (August 5th, 2012), the 'Bear' section next door had the following species: Grizzly Bear, Asiatic Black Bear, Sun Bear, Sloth Bear, Bush Dog, North American River Otter and Spotted-necked Otter.

Great news for the species considering there’s only 52 Malayan tigers in AZA zoos. Considering Asmara is a first time mother, it’s great to see her taking so well to motherhood.

Three Malayan tiger cubs have been born:

The Little Rock Zoo announced the birth of three Malayan tiger cubs to Asmara, an eight-year-old tiger born at the zoo, on August 13, 2022.

They will stay indoors for a few months while Asmara tends to her cubs, but guests can still see the cub's father, Jaya, in the outdoor tiger habitat.
