Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Longleat Safari Park 2020

Today they didn’t mention Zena the hand reared cheetah , anyone know what happened to her?

Got some sad news. Unfortunately because of Coronavirus problem and thing going on I have not been able to return to Longleat this year and as a surprise there will be 4 days at Longleat next year 2021

It's been a difficult year for zoo visiting but at least you have your four trips next year to look forward to

Visited today and our most notable spot was a tiny little baby 6 banded armadillo - not sure if it has been reported on here yet but it looked very young with eyes still closed. Got some photos - will add them to the gallery once I've had a chance to get them on the PC.

One of the older babies (they had 2.0 born earlier in the year) recently moved to Wild Discovery in Lancashire

@Nisha god that’s young to separate prodigy from their parents. I’m happy to hear that Preston has done the deed again, and the Armadillo breeding programme is going so well.

I think you mean progeny for offspring rather than prodigy which is a young person with exceptional talent of some kind. Regardless - armadillos are fully weaned by around 4 months of age and would not stay with mum for too much longer following this.

You never know... this young Armadillo could be pretty exceptional ;)

Not that this should have any bearing on the operating of the safari park but, as it is run by Longleat Enterprises, it has been announced that Cheddar Caves is to close “for the foreseeable future.”

Very disturbing news

I have fond memories of the place as I visited them as kid with me parents on the hottest (at the time) summer holidays in Cumbria, Chester and Wales in rain ridden UK. One day intending to visit the Castle we had to flee Caernarvon from the heat in the city as it was too darn hot and got in a funeral traffic jam as well on the day.

The way authorities and administration are and remain indifferent nay reluctant to step in and support natural and cultural heritage in these trying times remains alas all the more shocking. This is not market forces or privatised industry it is the very basis of what creates our identities that is being lost.

I am not sure where and how Longleat Safari fits in the overall Longleat Enterprises framework. Can anyone explain?
