I find it pretty interesting how the Zoo is displaying the two different subspecies.

Historically they've been managed as separate subspecies by the Red Panda SSP. All the Red Pandas in AZA are also managed internationally, both are well represented and genetically "pure".

The little one was born on May 25 to proud, first-time parents Raj and Helen. Both adults were first introduced to the public back in February 2019 and “have been a perfect pair,” the zoo said.
The sex has not been determined at this time.
