Movie review rant 2019

The director worked on Da Ali G Show and Flight of the Conchords, he also directed the last two Muppets movies which were very entertaining. I might actually see this haha I sense LEGO Movie potential with it. The whole cast is very solid too, Benicio del Toro, Michael Pena, and Eva Longoria are in it as well.
Also there's something so perfect about Machete voicing Boots the Monkey. 10/10 casting.
 
I only got to the 10 second mark before bursting out laughing at how she just flies upward into the air because she grabbed a hanging vine.

I just realized the new trailer doesn't have any Spanish in it. Have they dropped the bilingual aspect of Dora? You know, the reason the show was created...

I'm really looking forward to this movie, and I'm really really looking forward to Mike Moh's Bruce Lee, definitely the highlight of the trailer. :)

The only way I will watch this movie is if all three of these things happen:

  • They change Dora's head to the shape of a (American) football.
  • The last line of the movie is Dora speaking to the villain: "Swiper no swiping!"
  • The music that plays during the credits is "We Did It" with Dora summarizing the movie's plot.
 
I went to see the new Jordan Peele movie Us tonight and...wow. It's an incredibly trippy and confusing movie but in the best way possible. Us is more of a straight horror film than 2017's Get Out was, but it still does an excellent job of showing off Peele's writing and directing talents. Lupita Nyong'o stars in a dual role as Adelaide Wilson and her doppelganger Red, with Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Evan Alexander round out the cast as both Adelaide and Red's families. Everyone's acting is on point, and Nyong'o especially carries the film with two brilliant performances. There are several twists in the film but none were hokey or cliched. The cinematography is great, and the score perfectly complements the mood of the film. All and all it's a very solid complex horror film and I can't wait to see what Jordan Peele has planned next. I'm going to give this one an 8/10.

As a final note, this film is rated R and has some pretty intense scenes of violence. I can't recommend it if you're sensitive to gore and violence, and obviously don't see this if you're underage.
