Hopefully we can finally see two more calves from the sister's in 2023, And I would love to see Sunny have a calf as unlike Rudy she is basically glued to Frankie, which is a great material quality to have

It could also be hormonal changes. Hopefully all three cows will get pregnant nearly at the same time.

the video also shows the enrichment that a healthy captive elephant group needs. Babies are the glue. Something that a/r groups don’t seem to grasp.

It seems very rare for any facility let alone a sanctuary to make positive comments about the welfare of any former performing animal they're receiving --

Yasmin, her daughter Anak, Anak's son Sanjay, and Yasmin's son Kabir. They're set to arrive to Cincinnati.

Of this transfer, really only Yasmin (Ramon x Irma) and Kabir (Upali x Yasmin) are of any major value to the NA population, as Anak (Alexander x Yasmin) and Sanjay (Upali x Anak) are both of the well represented motek x warda line as well, which already has 12 descendants in North America, the majority of which are either actively breeding or set to be future breeders. With the additional import of Trong Nhi and Lhi Nih from Rotterdam to the Smithsonian set to occur in the near future as well, this will drive the M x W representation up to 16 animals overall!

Also of interest, Billy at Denver is actually a full sibling to Anak. He was imported back in the 2010's. Kind of interesting how it came full circle, with basically his whole family eventually coming stateside as well.

Also also of interest, Yasmin actually has an aunt she will be living with at Cincinnati as well, Schottzie is a full sibling to Yasmin's mother, Irma! Of course they wouldn't recognize any familiar relation, but still kind of cool all the same.

Correct. That’s the word on streets.

I do wonder if the management has given any thought to the genetic relationship of the new animals and the ones already here when making the decision.

That is very awesome, I love the family coming together in a sense! Good for Cincinnati, they're going to have a beautiful herd :D

Indeed it will. This actually leaves Dublin with 5 cows now, Bernadine, daughters Asha, Samiya, and Avani, and granddaughter through Asha Zinda.

This move was actually necessary for Dublin, they'll still have five breeding or potential breeding cows after the transfer, without sending out the Yasmin line, they wouldn't have any space to breed anymore! This is also a nice move for the European population, as it boosts the genetic value of all the lines involved in the Dublin animals, which are rather over represented at this point.
 
Not really news, however from a Facebook post I recently learned that Miami had changed Ongard’s name to Ardy? Was anyone else aware of this?
