Pairi Daiza Pairi Daiza News 2025

They are working at the terrace of the flower temple. (working was halted because Berani, one of the oranutangs was... refurbishing.. the terrace) and plan to add more enrichment for the orangutangs later on.

In a fan group on facebook the arrival of Parson's Chameleons for the sanctuary was also announced, has to be confirmed though if true that would mean the geographical theming is really going nowhere...

I thought they were going for a South American and Southeast Asian setup, but if this true I guess we’ll just get one big jungle hall with animals from all over the world.

Perhaps The chameleons are destined for the oasis and some oasis animals will go to the sanctuary... Or the rumours could not be true at all, i'll guess we will know when the sanctuary opens

a few things I found on the socials of the park:
- the roof of the Izba is being completely renewed. Works on this won't be finished when the new season starts, but the restaurant will remain open
- the outlook at the giraffes will be renovated and there will be some sort of training space/enrichment added
- the Asiatic Black Bear territory will be expanded into the adjacent former panda enclosure. (the one of the twins)
- 9 Flemish giants (Belgian bunny race) were born this winter.

Maybe at the old sitatunga exhibit and mix these with the pygmy hippos. If they add some extra land the sitatungas and marabou storks could be combined with the pymy hippos. Maybe the part of the old African elephant paddock for a new lion exhibit.

I thought they were going to go there… there have always lived leopards. First the African leopards, then Javan leopard Pelangi and now the black panthers. ‘The circle is complete.’ Let’s hope they will get a new enclosure later on, maybe at the old elephant bathing place.

I am a bit sad they have choiced a colour morph / genetic mutation over a species focus on leopard (and ... goodness me ... a conservation added value). Where did the 3 originate from (I guess they are zoo mix...)?

I’m afraid they are… No Indian leopards left in Europe except the one at Zoo Dortmund. Are there even African, Persian, Amur or Sri Lanka black panthers in Europe at the moment?
