I also went to PD yesterday and noticed a few things:
- The aviary in the oasis next to the Turaco and agouti enclosure, was empty. The crowned pigeon that was in there on my last visit was likely released into the tropicalia serre.
- I saw at least 5 wallabies on the farm. I never knew they had so many there!
- the naked mole rats have lots of
cubs (don't know if this is the right word)
- a weird amount of animals tried to eat my shoelaces. 2 African Penguins, a galah and budgies all tried to untie my shoes for some reason.
- I saw people trying to pet the African Penguins and getting bitten by them

they deserved it I guess.
- While I was in the walkthrough African Penguin and Harbour seal enclosure, a large herd of goats accompagnied by shepherd dogs suddenly took a walk through the exhibit??? Really questioning if it is a good idea to have goats, dogs, seals and penguins in the same enclosure at the same time.
-the last aviary at the egg of world ( the one most towards the entrance) was empty and unsigned. There used to be a cockatoo species in there on my last visit.
- a stork seems to have built a nest on top of the climbing structure of the black bears... Oh well...
- Signage for the female BoP has been removed and the bird was also gone. the enclosure is now inhabited by black naped orioles on the left and curl crested aracari on the right.
- They were repainting parts of the Buddhist temple. The route between the touch pool and the temple was closed off, but both remained accesible.
- Saw a lot of animals for the first time in PD: the civets, potoroo and the shoebill were all visible. I even saw the shoebill hunt an unfortunate mouse or frog (couldn't really see) that had entered its exhibit. Then he washed his mouth???
- they changed the old wierd steam engine terrarium, the first one you see when you enter the Mersus Emergo. It now actually looks quite nice and is inhabited by Central banded Fijian Iguanas (
brachylophus bulabula)
- There is a taiwan beaty snake in the toilets in the ship. Never noticed that before. I don't know what is in the female toilets, I didn't dare to take a look.
- The underwater view for the Hippopotamus is closed off. No reason was given.
- Nova, the baby rhino, was hurt by her father. Apperently the wound will heal naturally, but she needs time to rest and is temporarily off exhibit.
- The lion and Hyena males were roaring at each other from across the moat. The new males are introducing themselves to the lions...

- There is construction going on on the path between the cheetahs and the Black panthers. No reason was given, I hope they enlarge the Black panther enclosure.
- Also construction going on in between the House Of The Craftsmen (orangutan enclosure) and the elephant plain. The foundations for a building were already visible.
- It was way less busy than I expected it to be. In both the aquarium and the ship there was room to breathe and it was pretty calm overall. It is vacation in Belgium and part of the Netherlands, so I has expected way more people, even on a monday.
