Pairi Daiza Pairi Daiza News 2025

However, one day is much better then nothing, and you can see most of the park if you really want. Or you skip some parts that don’t interest you as much.
Thanks for this input, we're going to visit a day at first to see the things we really want and perhaps return to the area for a longer trip if our first impression is good :)

My first visit I did a day and a half but could have stayed longer. +
Thanks, its good to hear how different people experience the time needed.

The zoo has just released vacancies for all kinds of jobs. They seem to be looking for a new zookeeper that specializes in primates, one that specializes in birds and 2 aquarologists. Normally i would not find this special because they are looking for people all the time in Pairi Daiza, but I thought that the vacancies might have some relation to the Sanctuary since there are a lot of zookeeper vacancies.. which would mean we would see a lot of birds (obviously) and (nice suprise) a lot of primates as well and a load of fish/aquaria (for a large manatee pool?). I could be speculating totally wrong of course, perhaps someone who works/has worked at a zoo could confirm/ deny if this could be true?

I also went to PD yesterday and noticed a few things:

- The aviary in the oasis next to the Turaco and agouti enclosure, was empty. The crowned pigeon that was in there on my last visit was likely released into the tropicalia serre.
- I saw at least 5 wallabies on the farm. I never knew they had so many there!
- the naked mole rats have lots of cubs (don't know if this is the right word)
- a weird amount of animals tried to eat my shoelaces. 2 African Penguins, a galah and budgies all tried to untie my shoes for some reason.
- I saw people trying to pet the African Penguins and getting bitten by them :D they deserved it I guess.
- While I was in the walkthrough African Penguin and Harbour seal enclosure, a large herd of goats accompagnied by shepherd dogs suddenly took a walk through the exhibit??? Really questioning if it is a good idea to have goats, dogs, seals and penguins in the same enclosure at the same time.
-the last aviary at the egg of world ( the one most towards the entrance) was empty and unsigned. There used to be a cockatoo species in there on my last visit.
- a stork seems to have built a nest on top of the climbing structure of the black bears... Oh well...
- Signage for the female BoP has been removed and the bird was also gone. the enclosure is now inhabited by black naped orioles on the left and curl crested aracari on the right.
- They were repainting parts of the Buddhist temple. The route between the touch pool and the temple was closed off, but both remained accesible.
- Saw a lot of animals for the first time in PD: the civets, potoroo and the shoebill were all visible. I even saw the shoebill hunt an unfortunate mouse or frog (couldn't really see) that had entered its exhibit. Then he washed his mouth???
- they changed the old wierd steam engine terrarium, the first one you see when you enter the Mersus Emergo. It now actually looks quite nice and is inhabited by Central banded Fijian Iguanas (brachylophus bulabula)
- There is a taiwan beaty snake in the toilets in the ship. Never noticed that before. I don't know what is in the female toilets, I didn't dare to take a look.
- The underwater view for the Hippopotamus is closed off. No reason was given.
- Nova, the baby rhino, was hurt by her father. Apperently the wound will heal naturally, but she needs time to rest and is temporarily off exhibit.
- The lion and Hyena males were roaring at each other from across the moat. The new males are introducing themselves to the lions...:p
- There is construction going on on the path between the cheetahs and the Black panthers. No reason was given, I hope they enlarge the Black panther enclosure.
- Also construction going on in between the House Of The Craftsmen (orangutan enclosure) and the elephant plain. The foundations for a building were already visible.
- It was way less busy than I expected it to be. In both the aquarium and the ship there was room to breathe and it was pretty calm overall. It is vacation in Belgium and part of the Netherlands, so I has expected way more people, even on a monday.

Pairi Daiza is planning to move their yellow-cheeked gibbons to climbing structures above the Asian elephant exhibit. They have started construction on tree-like structures with huts and structures with ropes above the elephant territory, and they also plan to plant trees and live plants that will be part of the gibbon habitat. The foundation for a building mentioned in the post above is likely for a gibbon house.

Lion cub Nala has met the whole family of lions in the ‘Land of Origins’ today. She discovered the outdoor territory first with mom alone, then with mom and her two older brothers, and then with the whole pride. There are some pictures and videos with her mom and dad, but also with her older brothers. A big day full of emotion for our little lioness.

I have some update of my first day of two at Pairi Daiza:
  • The fence was being worked on at Tian Bao's former enclosure so perhaps they are working on a new inhabitant.
  • The binturong has gotten a big set of climbing frames.
  • An aviary is being built for the Blue-winged Kookaburra next to the australia aviary. (who was sharing an enclosure in the oasis with a Blue-throated Piping Guan behind the sakis)
  • The supposed Golden Snub-nosed Monkey enclosure looks finished and it includes two indoor areas.
  • The Serval enclosure looks to be quite decent with climbing frames and netting done for the most part.
  • The works for the gibbons have already started, 5 places have been marked in orange in the elephant yard, I assume this is where the trees will go. The foundation of the indoor enclosure was already being constructed.
  • I saw a Siberian Crane in the Moose enclosure.
  • The Spix Macaw were on show today.
  • I saw a muntjac in the Red Panda enclosure. (next to asiatic black bears)
All photos will be posted by this weekend
I am also making a species list of mersus emergo if anyone is interested.

Hi all,

Planning our first visit this weekend, and wondering whether there are any strategies of places to go first thing in the morning to ensure less crowds? Or generally a recommended route?
Thanks!

I don't think there is a general or recommended route.

Areas that you should certainly consider doing early in the day if you want to do them, are the giant pandas, the aquarium and the reptile ship.
