How many Malayan tigers are at the San Diego Zoo and do they plan on breeding them anytime soon?

From my visit in 2017, I know they had three males, one I remember being named Connor. I'm not sure if they are just a holding facility for tigers or if these tigers' genes are overrepresented.

We have 3 males, Connor, and his brothers Berani and Cinta who are littermates. Their mother was wild-born Mek. Connor killed his potential mate, Tiga, the first time they were put together.

According to this website
Home | San Diego Zoo Animals & Plants

It mentions several of the animals planned for the Children’s Zoo including Chinese Giant Salamanders, Pumpkinseed Sunfish, American Kestrel, West African Lungfish etc. I haven’t had an in-depth look at it so there is probably more.

It also lists a number of ambassador animals.

To find the information click the animal you are looking for then scroll to the section at the San Diego zoo and the information of the status (again quite dubious I’m not certain)

I can’t vouch for its accuracy so please don’t treat it as it’s hard stone fact

@Wyman Do you think the Elephant Odyssey exhibit at the San Diego Zoo will get new elephants or not if there are 3 left?

@Wyman For my view of the future of the Elephant Odyssey (2009) at the San Diego Zoo, I would see the 2.4 acre elephant habitat filled with more grass, and the utilitrees would get a major upgrade by having leaves drapping over the dishes, and some of the yards would be updated just for Asian and African elephant bulls.

Unsure if this is common knowledge or not, but Elephant Odyssey's elephant exhibit was actually built with geriatric elephants in mind, which is why they have the large care center, and all of the animals it's displayed have been older individuals, both Asian and African. As such, its best use is for post-reproductive elephants that would otherwise take up valuable space at a different institution.

Oh.

The sunbirds have laid another egg.
Question
How are they gonna get more individuals of the Splendid Sunbird for a breeding program to avoid inbreeding?

I agree once the children’s zoo section of the San Diego zoo is done, the most wanted area that needs improving for the Safari Park is to renovate and reimagine their Asia section especially like a tram Safari for the Asian field exhibits.

There are red pandas in the old giant panda exhibit. They seem to enjoy it. They are also still in the exhibit across from the takin exhibit but it has plexiglass surrounding it now, making it difficult to photograph there. I posted photos in the gallery.

I just saw the photos you posted and you’re so right, the one with the obvious plexiglass so isn’t photographer friendly at all  I’m visiting next week both parks, I’ve never seen the old panda habitat ever in person but maybe I’ll get to see it now :)

Why the plexiglass? COVID-19 protection?
