So How About the Weather....

In Michigan we still are cold and miserable, with the current snowfall total being more than 104 inches in Grand Rapids. The only upside of this whole predicament is that the local luge track is still open.

We got you beat at 105 right now in Syracuse. Pretty normal winter, but it would be nice if it was 30 degrees instead of 10....

So we are finally getting some rain here in California, so Jimmy Kimmel decided to mock the LA local news once again.

Is there any snow on the ground? Are the Great Lakes still frozen?

I just read that the extent to which the Great Lakes are frozen may break an all time record. Global warming is all made up gobbly gook made up by lefties - ain't that the truth Yanks? :D

The Great Lakes are still 30% covered in ice , but at this time of year it should be more like 2%. In years of prolonged ice cover, historical temperature records suggest that the summers are colder than average. So what's the weather like where you are?

We have had a rather dry and warm spring, with little wind, here in Essex UK, a lot of my gardens are well a head for the time of year, most of the tulips are finished for example a good fortnight early. The blue bells are nearly so, and the first batch of this years young birds have been fluttering for nearly 2 weeks as well.

Dry and warm in the UK? I don't think there'll be any complaints about that!!

Cold and wet here today, but there has been some reasonable weather recently.

Not really weather-related, but did anyone see the blood moon recently? It was too cloudy to see the eclipse last night.

The weather has been a little colder but it hasn't been that noticeable because of the other extreme weather we have been having. 2 weeks ago we had the 80 mph winds and tornado sightings in my area and recieved a little smaller than golf ball-sized hail. This ended up breaking a bunch of trees and tearing the roof off three of our school buildings in my village. Even with large parts of 2 schools missing roofs , we still had to have school 1 day later!

I just realized the one thing that has been good about the long lasting ice this year! It means people still are doing the cold water challenge to raise money for charity.

The past few weeks it has been anywhere between 30 and 75 degrees here. And it has changed about that drastically from one day to another!

It finally warmed up to the average seasonal temperature this week with thermometers saying the temperature has been between 21C/70F-26.7C/80F. This is nice after a large part of Michigan got snow last friday!

Here in Melbourne we had the longest stretch ever of maximum temperatures over 20C in May. That means that our average maximum temperature is 2C above average for May. Our snow season officially starts on 9 June, and with our mountains being just 1,000m high (temperature drops at 1C per 100m), I suspect that the snow cannons will be working overtime this year...

Michigan got snow in mid-May? Is this normal?

Since we are now leaving the snow behind us (knock on wood), the national weather service has anounced the snow fall totals for the Upper Peninsula. Two spots in the Keewenaw Peninsula tied thisyear for most snow with a grand total of (drum roll please) ........................................................................... 341 inches/8.7 meters of snow!
