Thanks, sorry I actually was thinking about the maternity yard. I guess I will just have to wait till the end of the summer.

Happy for a baby moose! When was the last time one was born at the zoo? Hopefully he/she will be on exhibit when I go to zoocamp at the end of July. Fingers crossed for more baby cheetahs!

The last time I remember baby moose is when we had twins in 2002

Oh ok. Thanks. Too long ago for me to have remembered :o. Who were the parents? Was Elliot the dad, or was there a different male at the time?

Sorry, I don't know the parents names but I know the mom had a tree related name (I think it might have been Spruce or Maple)

Good memory ZooGoer!
The twins (Birch and Maple) were born in 2001. Mom was Willow, Dad was Douglas Fir

Thanks Ungulate

I remember seeing them on Zoo Diaries and remembered the foresty names

I think Spruce also had a baby shortly after the twins but it was still born

I just found out today that the snowy owl egg is no good and will not hatch. Apparently, the male knocked the egg out of the nest and it fell. I was really looking forward to the baby snowy owl because I had not seen one before.

Really, thats to bad

I wonder if they'll move forward with moving the snowy owl's to Tundra Trek now?

Someone really needs to update the zoo's website. I was bored so I decided to look at their SSP, 17 SSP's are involved with the zoo and some of these animals can't even breed, being phased out, or not even in the zoo. Does anyone have an updated SSP plan? Because the one I read was updated in Feb of 2003.

Its very true! I have even e-mailed the zoo about there history last year and they haven't added anything since 2005!

Yeah, the zoo should take some responsibility into their website, but anyways I hope you had an awesome day. did u take pics of the new Tundra Trek or do you have any updates?

Not really an "arrival", but the indoor red river hog exhibit is again occupied by pygmy hippos. (I believe Harvey is in the old exhibit and Abou is in the new one).

Also, mark your calendars for August 9 - this is the second elephant open house of the summer and also Orangutan Awareness Week!

Too bad I won't be here on th 9th. I really wanted to go to the open houses. I saw the pygmy hippos seperated the last time I went. Athough it was the other way around Abou in old, Harvey in red river hog exhibit.

I just have a question regarding Coco's (siberian tiger) transfer

Did she happen to go to the Cherry Brook Zoo in New Brunswick?
