Tulsa Zoo Tulsa Zoo News

The Tulsa Zoo has updated their master plan website as they begin phase 2 of the master plan. Website includes some great renderings of the new front entry complex.

I really like the inclusion of vultures, Diana monkeys, and pygmy hippos in their African plans. I know they wouldn't be the first zoo to combine monkeys and hippos...SDZ already does that...but it's still a cool mixture regardless.

Male Giraffe leaves the zoo:
Ohe, a 2 years old male giraffe will leave today to his new home at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Ohe was born at the Tulsa Zoo on July 22nd, 2018 to mom Lexi and dad Hekaya. With his move, the herd at the Tulsa Zoo remains in 1.2 giraffes. Mom Lexi came from the Dickerson Park Zoo in 2011 and father Hekaya came from the Bronx Zoo in 2016. The other female Pili, came from the Sedgwick County Zoo on 2011.

Also interesting to see the young giraffe and rhino. I like they are going back to breeding megafauna again

When is the new Asian Elephant exhibit scheduled to open? Have they begun construction? I can't find anything that says when it is scheduled to open.
