On April 20th, the zoo announced that 2 out of the 3 pot-bellied pigs have moved into their new enclosure. The third pig is kept behind the scenes due to rooting in the dirt.

On June 5th, it was announced that the zoo acquired a (1.0) turkey named Hank from a family due to him getting too big for said family to handle.

On June 8th, the sanctuary announced that the baby American black bear's name will be Bluebeary.

On September 14th, the zoo announced that starting on the 15th, they will be closed on Wednesdays to work on demolishing the old bear pit and as well as remodeling old exhibits, and building new ones. The zoo will still be opened Thursday-Sunday.

On September 24th, the zoo announced the arrival of a (1.0) muntjac (specific species name not given) named Marvin. He was rescued by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and is now living with Bennett's wallaby and the Patagonian maras.

On July 3rd, the sanctuary announced that a (0.1) American black bear named Jiggly has passed away. She was one of the original bears that were on the property back when it was known as Yellow River Game Ranch.
