On October 14th, 2020, it was reported that the sanctuary was flooded. No animals were hurt, as they were taken to higher ground. Two older exhibits were damaged, while the newly built exhibits weren't damaged at all.

On December 3rd, it was announced on their Facebook page that a female alpaca was born on November 6th. The sanctuary held a naming contest that ran until December 5th, at which point the name "Princess Bubblegum" was chosen.

On January 7th, 2021, it was reported that the founder of Yellow River Game Ranch owner Art Rilling died at age 92 earlier that week.

On January 11th, the sanctuary announced the passing of a female American black bear named Upper due to declining health.

On April 4th, the zoo announced that their raccoon exhibit is complete, and the raccoons have moved into their new exhibit.

On April 20th, the zoo announced that 2 out of the 3 pot-bellied pigs have moved into their new enclosure. The third pig is kept behind the scenes due to rooting in the dirt.

On May 9th, it was announced that (0.0.3) ring-tailed lemurs were born at the zoo.

On May 15th, the zoo announced that they acquired a (0.1) American black bear from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

On June 5th, it was announced that the zoo acquired a (1.0) turkey named Hank from a family due to him getting too big for said family to handle.

On July 12th, the zoo announced they have acquired (0.0.2) domestic rats into their animal ambassador program from a rat breeder.

On August 23rd, the zoo announced they are starting Phase 2 with the demolishing of the old bear pit. The new exhibit will feature a "monolithic playground for the residents" and cave features for the guests. The zoo is now running a poll on which animals would be able to fill that exhibit, including:

• Brown Bear
• Wolf
• Lion
• Cheetah
• Mountain Lion

On September 2nd, the zoo announced that they will start improving their kinkajou exhibit during autumn.

On September 14th, the zoo announced that starting on the 15th, they will be closed on Wednesdays to work on demolishing the old bear pit and as well as remodeling old exhibits, and building new ones. The zoo will still be opened Thursday-Sunday.

On September 24th, the zoo announced the arrival of a (1.0) muntjac (specific species name not given) named Marvin. He was rescued by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and is now living with Bennett's wallaby and the Patagonian maras.

On July 3rd, the sanctuary announced that a (0.1) American black bear named Jiggly has passed away. She was one of the original bears that were on the property back when it was known as Yellow River Game Ranch.
