Oh, he's very good! I left with a sore neck and my colugo curse very much intact.

Batu Caves had to be cut from this trip, unfortunately. I lost several days to food poisoning in Taman Negara, hence the list is shorter than hoped. I've seen cave nectar and diadem roundleaf bats before, though, so it wasn't a major loss.

And I have no idea how you find the time or energy to write whilst travelling. I'm very glad you do, though!

one time I went to Taman Negara, got hit with dengue fever the night I arrived and left after several days fever without ever having even got across the river into the park!

On colugos, have you been to Bako in Sarawak? They are usually easy there. Although I think seeing colugos anywhere is really a matter of luck.

I remember that entry, but didn't realise it was dengue. I think pretty much my only chance of overtaking you this time is if you contract it again.

And I've never been to Bako. To be honest, given the places I still have to visit in Sabah (Kinabatangan for cats, Kinabalu for squirrels, Deramakot for everything), it'll be a while before Sarawak becomes a priority. A third attempt at Singapore's colugos is tentatively scheduled for 2020, however.

I didn't know it was dengue at the time, so I don't think that is actually mentioned in the thread. If I get dengue again I'll be in trouble though, because the second time is often fatal. Then you'll definitely overtake me :p

It wasn't painful enough to be dengue, and I doubt malaria. I really don't know.

yes, that was written before the full-body rash appeared. And I had expected dengue to be much more painful. I mean, it was painful, but the name "break-bone fever" implies so much worse.

Whatever I got in Yunnan was much worse than the dengue.

Black, and Middle, Greater and Lesser Spotted. So a total of five species with the Grey-headed. I got unusually good views of the Black and Middle Spotted today.

Syrian and Green are also possible in the area, and Wryneck should be possible as well though I have never seen the latter.
