It is easier if you number them as you go and to use enters between the zoos or have some other way to make your list more readable like bold or underscore.

So I know I did that whole 10 days count down and it's been 11 days since then but I switched the zoo I was doing first last minute and wanted to come back with a bit more of a bang so:

Worthy Note: I've officially seen six subspecies of Brown Bear this year and total (won't see any more, unless you split Iberian), three of which have been lifers.

Probably won't keep up as I go- sorry for breaking the rules- but I have a lot of running around to do in the upcoming weeks and I don't have my computer so just posting this took a lot longer than it should have.

Impressive list! Which subspecies of brown bear did you see?

Impressive list! Which subspecies of brown bear did you see?

I've seen Grizzly, Sitka, Syrian, Ussuri, Kodiak, and now European (technically Iberian but idt any split of them is considered valid despite how different they look from other animals I've seen in UK zoos). The Syrian, Ussuri, and Kodiak have all been lifers this year.

Fantastic Iberian Lynx!!! I've never seen one and hope to see my first also at Madrid zoo at the end of September. What time of day did you see them, how active were they, good photos?

Thought I would work out the current top 10 as posted (I know one or two people listed now have higher totals):

1) @Giant Eland - 96 species
2) @FunkyGibbon - 94 species
3) @ShonenJake13 - 87 species
4) @ThylacineAlive - 81 species
5) @MagpieGoose - 81 species
6) @pipaluk - 78 species
7) @TeaLovingDave - 76 species
8) @Dormitator - 73 species
9) @lintworm - 72 species
10) @Joker1706 - 65 species

At this stage I reckon I will do well to even scrape into the top 5 ;) :p

I'll be stuck at 96 until my European adventure (with a smattering of Dubai) begins September 16th :D...after that the real fun begins!! Can't wait to finally tick off damned Red Pandas lol.

I suggest getting to the zoo at opening and then making a hard left to their enclosure right away. I never saw them after the morning but they were very active then. The mink were let out about half an hour after opening and the one on the left was very showy too.

@FunkyGibbon maybe if you both wait a while to post I can win for a bit, yeah? :P

The sad thing is, despite having more visits scheduled for the coming weeks, it's entirely possible that I won't add more than two species for the rest of the year. I'm just at that point where I've hit everything that's common in China and I am hoping that the odd rarity shows up.

I'm looking forward to following Jake's updates from his European leg; I'm suspecting/hoping that he's in a similar situation.

As @FunkyGibbon said.

But on another note, do they not still have Black-Footed Ferret and Eastern Spotted Skunk?

~Thylo
The exhibit and sign for Black-footed Ferrets was still there at ZooAmerica in mid-August but in 3 visits over 2 days I never saw them. The Eastern Spotted Skunk, I believe is no longer there. The exhibit was empty and the sign gone but they do have a Striped Skunk as an ambassador animal.

As successful as these past few days have been, I've also managed to miss six planned species from the various zoos above. This also brings the very disappointing announcement that Magdeburg's Marsh Mongoose are currently behind the scenes and due to leave the zoo imminently for an unknown collection.

Do you have any information on how many they currently have? They received a pair from the Netherlands and later on a third one, the latter was subsequently send back when introductions with the pair were unsuccessful.
