ZooParc de Beauval Zooparc de Beauval news 2021

I had forgotten how spectacular they are. Perhaps with more modern husbandry zoos in Europe can be more successful with them longterm.
I do think especially the Thai have nailed down the husbandry fairly well. I found the former Bangkok Zoo doucs at 25+ individuals in great health and breeding very well. Now redistributed over Khao Kheow ORZ and other facilities in Thailand. Wonder when new Bangkok Zoo might get on stream .....

Don't think this has been mentioned yet, but recently Beauval welcomed 1.2 Critically endangered Southern River Terrapins from Singapore, only the second zoo to have them in Europe currently, along with Prague. Hopefully they can breed.

In other news, it is testament to Beauval's recent accelaration in development that over half the thread is in 2020, in a thread started in 2007! :)

Info already gave in the gallery ;). They share the tomistoma pools.

Photos released on Facebook about the construction of the new patas monkeys house at the exit of the gorillas greenhouse.
Not an improvement for the patas in my opinion but for sure for the gorillas (the patas used to live in one of the two gorillas indoor enclosures in the past. At the beginning the two species were mixed but now it has gone).

Thank you for the info.
Have you contacted the zoo? because it doesn't seem to me to have seen any communications on this subject.
I suppose @Bib Fortuna saw this on Zims.

Some piece of niews of the last days :

3- The Zoo take over the whole conservation programme called HELP CONGO which was run previously by a NGO with the same name. At the beginning this programme was created to protect chimpanzees in the Conkouati-Douli national park but now has expanded to biodiversity protection and scientific research.

The main missions will be now :
- monitoring and management of chimpanzees on the Sanctuary Islands,
- possibility of reintroduction in the park of chimps born in these islands,
- census of the park’s extraordinary biodiversity: leopards, forest elephants, gorillas, manatees, eagles, hornbills, leatherback turtles, etc. with various methods (environmental DNA, trap cameras, etc.),
- specific programmes on species to be defined on the basis of the biodiversity census which has been carried out,
- protection of part of the park (the Triangle, 3000 hectares) thanks to the guardians and in collaboration with the park rangers,
- support to local communities at the socio-economic level,
- development of educational programmes for species conservation,
- eco-tourism projects,
- participation in the park conservation strategy in collaboration with its manager, the french NGO Noé.

Hello! This is a bit of a stretch but does anyone know Terima, Batak and Kashi’s parents? They are Sumatran Tigers born at the zoo quite a while ago now. :)

New video of the serie "Un oeil en coulisse" with the giant otters where we learn a new male called Orinoco arrived from Givskud to form a pair with Isolda. All seems to go well for them.
We learn too that Pequeno, the previous male, was send to Hamburg because the female didn't want to be with him.
I cannot understand French, but if they really say that Orinoco is from Givskud then they are wrong. Isolda is from Givskud, Orinoco is from Parken Zoo in Sweden.

@MennoPebesma It was said two times that the new male, called Orinoco, came from Denmark and the second time by the head keeper so I supposed they were right. But it would not be the first time we had wrong infos about animals arrived ;)

I recently received information from the giant otter studbook keeper which states that Orinoco is from Parken Zoo. I think the studbook keeper does know where the animals come from.
