I hope Banham isn't about to become yet another zoo with a diminishing cat collection!I noticed the geoffroy's cat enclosure is now another Pallas cat home yesterday (at least labelled as such), although I only saw one in the end section.

I thought I'd post the first news from Banham for 2018. The zoo expect to receive their first sealion today/tomorrow from Zoologischer Stadtgarten Karlsruhe. It is a male called Emmett. The article on their facebook page suggests Banham will be receiving to females to keep him company, from another collection.
Nothing has been announced on the Banham zoo website, but there are a couple of photos od Emmett on the Karlsruhe website:

Looks like they are opening this on the 16th, next Friday. The new sealion exhibit has been delayed to Easter 2018.
The first 3 sealions are in their new enclosure, l'm going to see them on Sunday. Next Friday is the official opening.
According to Zootierliste, they had South American Sea Lions previoulsy. I've only been visiting in the last 4 years and am sure they were there then; isn't this a renovation job rather than a new feature?Exciting times anyway. Does anyone remember if banham had sea lions before? I'm sure I remember visiting when I was a kid and seeing them on the right just a little way down after you enter? Perhaps where the dwarf Mongoose now live or there about?

Ah right, I rarely take much notice of seals and sea lions. They had the Fur Seals for many years.
