Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden What's Gnu At The Cincinnati Zoo? - 2013

The stones part is in honour of the keepers (a husband wife team) that helped little Gladys pull through those first critical days.

This solves the goose/crane problem. Here's what the zoo says.

We do not know how the goose egg ended up with the cranes. There were 2 eggs at one point, one disappeared and we are not sure what happened to it. We were hands off on this hatching (we did not put the goose egg in with them) and they seem to be feeding the chick.

Very odd. Not too sure if I 100% believe that, though. But it's possible. Did you happen to ask about the Okapi calf also?

Visitors will be able to play tug-o-war with the new lions "John" from the National Zoo and "Imani" from the St. Louis Zoo as a feature of the new Africa exhibit opening June 29th.

There is now a baby skunk in the nursery.

Explain this tug-o-war thing.

What species of skunk?

*Monkey Island is closed for cleaning until later in the summer. Same goes for the okapis.
*CeCe and Jambo (New Giraffes) are now allowed outside.
*The female red river hog gave birth but her and her offspring were shipped off to another zoo.
*The male hog will also be transferred and will be replaced by a critically endangered pig species (Yes I know what it is)
*I have a couple of other updates but they may be too secretive to tell ;) Here's a hint, it involves Wildlife Canyon being an all Asian complex, wild horses, and a black rhino.
*Today is Duke's (Sea Lion) 25th birthday

Do you know when the exhibits will reopen? I don't care if I miss the monkeys (it's just Japanese Macaques, right?) but I always love to see an Okapi.

So the zoo will be replacing their Red River Hogs? Great!:) Do you know when they will be replaced by? And for anyone who can't tell, the new pigs will obviously be Negros Warty Pigs because, A, they're the only Critically Endangered wild pig in captivity in the U.S. that I know of, and, B, the exhibit is in Wildlife Canyon and it fits with Cinzooman's hint.

Can you pm me with any information you can divulge? And where did you find out this supposedly secret information? I can't imagine the zoo telling a visitor if it's top secret (I don't mean to second guess you but I'm just a bit confused).

I bet the okapis will be back sooner. I have no idea what the zoo could be doing. It would suck not to see okapis on any given day.
