Past the bush dog and pudu enclosures, where the anteaters used to be. The enclosure currently has an agouti sign but has both of them in. They seemed a bit nervous when we same them this morning. Went back an hour ago and no sign of them.
Have you any other news from the zoo?

Not sure what has been said on the thread already so apologies if I repeat anything:

1. Male Spectacled bear is over by Spirit of the Jaguar enclosure.
2. Anteater is now in with the capybara.
3. Javan Green Magpies were very visiJavain the afternoon.
4. Didn't see the Malayan Tapirs on thr Islands.

There was one other thing. The tour guide we had said they're currently filming series 5 of Secret Life of the Zoo.

I'm at Chester usually once a month and there has been someone filming somewhere in the zoo every time I've visited over the last 18mths

I found it interesting and fascinating how well the Malayan Tapirs displayed in the old cattle shed. I would often see them outside in the small paddock and quite active after 4pm despite close proximity to the patrons.

I agree with @redstarsmith that the tapirs at Chester are amongst the most laid back of their species that I've ever seen. They are also quite used to going outside where this minimum cover so the enclosures in Islands should be fine.

Yes, they do seem to vary- at some places they don't seem shy whereas at others they do.

Lima appears to trust the little one in the water now, as she was paddling in it as much as climbing trees today.

Saw one of the Padmeleon after trying several times through out the day; late afternoon, but was keeping close to a bush, skipping around the front of it a few times, before disappearing.

Can anyone direct me to any information about Chesters Condors?

I was interested to know why they left the collection. Did they pass away or have they just been phased out of the collection? If still alive where did they move onto? Do they happen to be the the same animals that where displayed in a much smaller aviary on the opposite side of the canal to the Tropical house in the 1980's?

I always thought they were one of the highlights of a visit although even the old bear pit seemed a little small for them.

Many thanks in advance for anyone who can help with my search for knowledge.

The Condors left in 2016.I remember seeing them in June 2016 so they could have left or passed away soon after.

The male died in 2014, the female was moved on in 2016.

The top ten zoos in this year's TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards can be seen here and, as lintworm says, should be taken with more than a pinch of salt: Folly Farm is second best in the UK and tenth-best in the world, according to this year's list.
