Back to the condors, they were the same pair that were kept on the north bank of the canal for many years. They hatched thirteen chicks, of which 11 were reared. The female was sent to a retirement home in 2016.

Thanks Bongorob grateful for the very detailed information.

Out of interest: any idea where the offspring were sent out to?

Had a great visit to the zoo today ShonenJake13 and gentlelemur, a few changes;
-Saw all 3 Malayan Tapir, all outside.
-Betta (Betta hendra) are now on-show in the invert exhibits in the Monsoon Forest and the Buffalo Leech have been given a new exhibit.
-The 2 young Lowland Anoas have been moved into the Congo Buffalo indoor area where the Malayan Tapir used to be.
-Upside Down Jellyfish are now in the tanks which had held the pipefish in.
-The Red-breasted Goose, Rock Dove, Black Stork have left Europe on Edge to live with the Vultures in the old Condor aviary. Azure-winged Magpie are also now in this aviary.
-The Schalow’s Turaco are now in the Wetlands aviary.
-Saw a Dusky Pademelon after visiting the exhibit 3 times. A lifer for me :)
-The Sumatran Laughingthrush are back in the aviary by the entrance for the Tropical Realm.
-The Blue-legged Mantella are no longer in the Tropical Realm on public display. They have been replaced by False Tomato Frogs. The blue stick insects are still in there.
-There are no longer Emperor Tetra in the Caecilian tank.
-Saw a Gentle Lemur on the island outside the Tropical Realm and the Spiny-tailed Iguana in with the Parson Chameleon.

I'm disappointed that the young Anoa have moved into the cattle house, I was hoping that enclosure would be populated with some African species to support the surrounding area.

The cattle house does not feature in the zoo's long-term plans.

5 spiny-headed tree frogs (Anotheca spinosa) are in the first viv in Monsoon Forest, they were placed in there about two weeks ago. Tadpoles from this species can be seen in the pond. In the next viv with the forest dragons are some pearl gouramis (Trichopodus leeri).

The male Bornean river turtle (Ortilia borneensis) is currently living with the Burmese brown tortoises, to give the females a rest from him.

New fish labels have appeared in the gharial cave. Along with the usual rasboras there are three species of tiger barb signed. Tiger barb (Puntigrus partipentazona), Sumatra tiger barb (Puntigrus tetrazona) and Bornean tiger barb (Puntigrus anchisporus).

Azure-winged Magpie are also now in this aviary.
-The Schalow’s Turaco are now in the Wetlands aviary.
two interesting observations here. Wonder if the magpies are Asian azure-winged, or if Chester have acquired the Iberian species too?
You'd think the turacos would be lost in that enormous aviary!

There are also Borneo eared frogs in the first viv, as observed by myself, @gentle lemur and @MagpieGoose.

Hate to be a pedant but it's the male Giant Asian pond turtle (Heosemys grandis) that's gone into the tortoise enclosure; both O.borneensis specimens are still in the gharial tank, and the two female grandis and pair of batagur are still in the other tank.

They are! We only noticed them as I was trying to find the Fischer's turaco in the Tsavo aviary, and gentle lemur managed to spot a turaco fly by behind me. Turned around and saw not a Fischer's, but a Schalow's atop the frame of a keeper's access gate into the Wetlands next door! They also aren't signed so you really have to keep your eyes peeled to see them.
