Hate to be a pedant but it's the male Giant Asian pond turtle (Heosemys grandis) that's gone into the tortoise enclosure; both O.borneensis specimens are still in the gharial tank, and the two female grandis and pair of batagur are still in the other tank.

Thanks for the correction. I ought to have known which is which. They are turtley different.

One small addition to the observations we made at Chester yesterday: the tank in the Aquarium with the striped barbs and the clown rasboras (which are slowing acquiring their beautiful colours) now also has a lovely pair of pearl gouramis (rapidly becoming a signature species at Chester) and a group of small hillstream fishes, related to the 'Hong Kong pleco'. The closest match I can find on Fishbase is Gastromyzon scitulus, but I am not confident about the identification.
Incidentally I also had to look up Betta hendra it is a relatively newly described species (2013) from Borneo, and it is very beautiful too :)

Might they be the Gastromyzon borneensis listed on zootierliste?
They certainly might be, I merely looked for the photo on Fishbase that was most similar to the fish in my photos (which are not good). I rate Fishbase slightly higher than Zootierliste, but neither are gospel. These fish are still small and may change in appearance as they grow, so we are entitled to be sceptical of all identifications - particularly as there seem to be at least three Gastromyzon species of roughly similar appearance from Borneo (cf G ctenocephalus)

Wildlife Connections Family Sleepover | What's On at Chester Zoo

Some of the highlights:

Event is taking place in the overflow car park
Does not include entry into the zoo
Portable toilets with no lighting (bring your own torch)
No running water, bottled ration of 2 litres per person
All bookings must be a mixture of adults and children
£49 per adult, £29 per child (so minimum of £78)

Unmissable!

Good grief!!!! 50 notes a head for a temporary campsite, thunderboxes and rationed water!?! Is this a joke?!

EDIT: just to be clear, you take and pitch your own tent, and the event has no access to the zoo whether as a paid extra or otherwise..

Some points that haven't been mentioned;

The fence surrounding the lemur walk-through construction area is in place, and a larger version will be built during the coming week. So currently inaccessible are:

Penguins (moved off-show, boardwalk already partially removed)
Outdoor giant otter viewing
Sunken garden
Play Arc (demolished, area cleared)
Tigers (still occupied by three binturong, moving shortly)
Europe on the Edge aviary (empty)
Area used for dinosaurs
What was the Children's Zoo (covered with concrete feet for said fence)

It's therefore a surprisingly long walk from June's Pavillion to the Aquarium, for example.

Does that include the mongoose enclosure?
