The problem is, there are very few elephant managers/handlers as far as I'm aware who go along with Tony's methods of handling Mila - before she went to Loritz let alone her move to FZ.
It's unlikely there will be any support for Tony's involvement except amongst Tony's friends. If there was, I would think all those who are involved with Mila's care now would be actively working toward that resolution, but they're not. It's not just Jenny.
Can you, or Jenny, answer these simple questions please?
Are Franklin Zoo going to turn their noses up at the offer of a FREE crate,FREE transport to the airport, and someone who can communicate with Jumbo [or Mila] and load into said crate WITHOUT TRAUMA?
Why does it matter what methods are used, as long as they are in the best interests of the animal?
Tony told me in 1958 BULLENS CIRCUS bought a very badly handled elephant from AUCKLAND ZOO , Kassala , she was not used of travel , crating , any out side noises like fire engines etc , they toured her through N.Z. and then back to Australia on a ship , no Zoo keeper even in todays world at Auckland or any oz zoo would do that , the Bullens etc were good with any elephant including a bull , and Tony worked for those people and is in that mould , the tougher the elephant the better he loves them , wake up , Franklin and stop the lies , posturing , and money laundering
Why, did Tony Ratcliffe keep Jumbo for 30 years?
I dont understand why someone who has a genuine love for an animal would cart it around for 30 years
Times change, and with it people's opinions and beliefs on what is right and wrong for animals.
the time for talking is over and who cares who does the crating if jumbo is not distressed , drugged , pulled in by force , they should just get on with the job , I am surprised Auckland ZOO elephant keepers have not put their hands up and done the entire project , but i suppose they have their own worries with new elephants coming in to join their lone elephant , Tony talks well of Andrew Coers , being the man to lead the project , then that is only his opinion , and who would listen to him :?
I am 65 years old and I will ALWAYS believe that the place for any animal is in the wild, not in a zoo and definitely not in a circus.
If animals are driven to extinction by mans stupidity and ignorance, then so be it,more fool man.
I was keen to know what involvement she had with the Zoo [if its any of my business]
I was hoping it would point to the resolution of the Jumbo re home saga, I
didnt mean to sound offensive.
Just because a few ignorant men drive animals to extinction is that any reason why the rest of us should stand by and let them do it.
When the Javan tiger was endangered the suggestion was made to catch some and keep them in zoos, but that was vetoed in favour of preserving them in the wild. Now they are all extinct.
The Sammatron tiger is nearly extinct in the wild, as is the indian lion, with only a few hundred left of each. But if they died out completely through man's intervention we will still have them alive in captivity.
It's a very short sighted view that all wild animals should be kept in the wild, and anyone who believes that is a fool.
Sumatran tiger.
Is it better to keep Sumatran tigers captive in an enclosure, leading a life of being fed dead turkeys etc, selective breeding, constantly moving them between zoos?
Just so the public can gawp at them.
You thinks so....I dont think so.
Me? Not necessarily, I was just quoting a previous post.
