what will happen to islands in danger when islands opens will there a name change or a total re development

If all the Philippine and Indonesian species are moved, Islands in Danger might be given over to Caribbean species, which already take up a couple of the displays. Blue iguanas could go into the Komodo dragon enclosures and the aviaries would work well for hummingbirds
Of course it would need a new name; traditionally it should become a Realm. Realm of the Mountain Chickens sounds too silly, even by Chester Zoo standards, but I think Realm of the Iguanas would fit in.

No, if it were to happen at Chester it would have to have a really silly name. Realm of the Solenodon might be overdoing it and it's not alliterative either: Spirit of the Solendon would be OK, but I prefer Suzerainty of the Solenodon - on the principle that if you've got them, flaunt them!
There might be some little difficulties with getting the stock and I think the house would need a lot of work to make it suitable for small mammals; so perhaps my original suggestion is slightly more likely, albeit rather less attractive.

I would not complain were Chester to bring those in, either - they have rapidly decreased in numbers within Europe, having recently died off over in Berlin (which is a shame, as I could have seen them there this year) and being found in fewer and fewer places. Not even entirely sure if the last ones over on the Isle of Man at Curraghs are still alive.

Are cassowaries going to be the only species representing Papua New Guinea in the development?
If so, why not just drop them and perhaps Islands in danger would make an ideal PNG exhibit, tree kangaroos, cuscus, echidnas, crowned pigeons, Pesquet's parrots, birds of paradise and others.

I've heard tree kangaroos mentioned as something that people wanted in 'phase 2' of Islands in Danger in the past, I personally think they would make a great centrepiece. It would give the collection back the Australasian quirkiness that is noticeably missing from the mammal collection in particular.

Hi Kristin. The Bornean orangutans are going to be moving to the new exhibit in Islands, and the Sumatran orangutans are likely to remain in the Realm of the Red Ape. We also have plans for the tiger enclosure, but they're not confirmed yet.

I thought it was the other way round. Have things changed?

Interesting - I was under the impression that the Sumatrans were due to move into Islands and the Borneans would move into the RotRA.

It has always been the Sumatrans to move and I've not heard that it's changed.

In a recent blog about Martha

Today her outdoor enclosure is part of Realm of the Red Ape, and upon the completion of ‘Islands’ she will be moving along with the other Bornean Orangutans into Realm of The Red Ape completely.
