Things That Irritate You in Life

Having yet more medical issues, just when the digestive stuff was over and I thought things could get back to normal I now have ear infections and infection in and damage to my mandible joint. I am unable to properly eat right now for at least days, probably for longer. And it remains to be seen whether this is actually fixable, or might be a permanent issue.

I will probably never be able to wear headphones again because of the joint issue, and in my case, that means no more podcasts, no more videos and no more music, permanently, for over 95% of my time. So yeah, that will be a major change to my habits and my time consumption, which I absolutely hate - but there is simply no other choice anymore.

I hate myself that I wasn't smarter about things and that I ignored some previous alarm signals, and now have to suffer the major consequences.

At least my own stupidity and carelessness haven't completely cost me the zoo hobby - yet.

People who take their electric scooters wherever they go.I understand the advantages of these scooters, and i sometimes use the ones you rent when i have to get somewhere fast and others ways of transport like bus or tram may take longer time and will make me arrive late. The problem occours when lazy slobs who are to lazy to walk, bring their scooters on fully packed busses and trains during rush-hour and they are just in the way of everything and are just really frustrating.

Another thing that really irritates me! When people talk to me or communicate with me in an abrasive manner (showing little concern for the feelings of others; harsh).

I have one and I have to say those things are amazing!

Yes, they help the lazy, but they're also very efficient, especially when your travelling somewhere far (but not far enough for the need of public transport).

Sorry if I sounded a bit mean and grumpy. The way you use it is the way it should be used.I don't even have a problem with people bringing them on public transport as long as they use common sense and don't bring them during rush-hour.

Cheers, no I just think they're incredibly useful. And take up much less space too (on public transport) versus bikes.

I understand rush hour can be quite hectic. I've been on trains before where space is extremely limited so I can understand where your frustration is coming from as a scooter would take up quite a bit of space which is essential during times like rush hour.

Bought more spray millet for the cockatiel. Failed to notice it was banana-scented for whatever outlandish reason. Not only is it stupid on grounds of neither parrots nor finches having any real sense of smell, but the cockatiel refused to eat it for some reason. Got unscented millet and he's happy and I'm still wondering what the point of banana-scented birdseed is. Normal spray millet doesn't really smell in the first place!

I googled that because it seems so weird. Apparently you can also get banana-scented rope perches and other such nonsense. Millet sprays also (perhaps only in America?) come in flavoured varieties including banana, so maybe it was both flavoured and scented and that's why he refused to eat it.

Yeah it says natural banana flavor in the ingredients list so that's very likely, though it only claims to be scented on the packaging.
It just seems so silly to scent the stuff.

Some updates.

I have to see a specialist for my jaw issue, but no appointments were available until October, so I will have to be careful for months to come. And I will be worrying quite a bit for that time also.

I can eat better now with some care, but I can't eat everything again yet. Unfortunately this also makes zoo visits harder, as I can't for example eat or chew (club) sandwiches, burgers or salads right now. So that does make it quite hard to do whole-day zoo visits given the foods offered, I am still thinking of solutions but haven't really found any yet. I'm afraid I will have to postpone all plans other than my planned stay at Pairi Daiza, which might get a bit complicated.

Also, yet again, the current heat :( We're getting a full blown heat wave this week and the worst is yet to come. I can't stand the heat and it also makes me worry a bit about my chickens and roosters. I am doing what I can and so far they seem to be holding up relatively well, though I can tell they probably like this heat about as little as I do.

Here is another one. When a friend makes plans to meet up with you and then bails on you and doesn't show up. They don't even give you prior cancellation notice. It is disrespectful of your time, especially when you planned a good part of your day to accommodate that plan. I am thinking, "Dude we had plans and you didn't communicate with me, not cool!" Again your time feels disrespected.

Another related thing, when plans change on me. For example, when a group of your friends make plans to meet up with you, tell you to pick them up at a certain time and then automatically change their plans and then don't include you in those plans, especially when you plan a good part of your day to accomodate these originally agreed upon plans.

In other words, inconsiderate spontaneousity.

Obviously you have the simple email then?

Sometimes, i've had to add say the number 2 at the end of their name to avoid sending it to the wrong person. Especially if you're both part of the same organisation (and, hence have the same email address at the end) .

That is not how e-mail works.

It is when you consider that some people are stupid and just guess at an email address rather than actually looking it up or storing it in a contacts list or address book

I've seen it happen plenty of times when people type email addresses without really thinking about what they are doing.

Particularly: firstname.lastname@generic-email-domain.com

I registered Gmail addresses for my kids using the firstname.lastname@gmail.com format but was annoyed to find that there is someone who has exactly the same name as my son who had already registered his. I wasn't expecting that, given his first name is very Spanish, while my family name is very German. Turns out the person with the same name is living in Chile - which makes sense, given that there are a lot of German people living in that Spanish speaking country.

So, that guy in Chile is likely to get email intended for my son.

In general, yes that can happen, of course. But they were talking about receiving e-mail for someone with the same name in the same city, like snail mail delivered to the wrong address. To me it sounds like they're just getting spam.

Well, I know of an example of a former friend of mine who had them same thing happen to her. Someone of the exact same name shared her email address, and funnily enough they lived in the same city and worked for the same organisation too! So it can be common.
