Welt der Gifte (Salzburg) Welt der Gifte Salzburg - News and Discussion

The new Austrian "Lockdown Light" guidelines are kinda confusing: museums are allowed to open on the 7th of December, while zoos are only allowed to re-open their outdoor exhibits on the 24th of December, with the rest closed till the 6th of January, 2021.
Since WdG is both a museum and a zoo (like the closeby HdN that opens on the 7th), I'm a bit confused what applies to us. And so are the officials whom I've contacted for clearance...

It has been quite a journey, but it was worth it: today, two additional cobra, two new spider and three new scorpion species have been added to the WdG.

The Sicarius sp.?

The Phyllobates terribilis specimens died in 2019. In a new, larger venue, I'd like to keep a larger group in a nice show tank.
The two female Sicarius spiders are alive and doing well; I forgot to c & p them from my data sheet.

I finally got an official federal reply whether I'm allowed to open again this month. The answer was:
latenightseth-seth-meyers-lnsm-9VlW82yXW76vRlhk34

The next possible opening date has been delayed from early January 2021 to mid-January 2021, for whatever reason they deem fit.
Great...

Ah I see, well not great news but at least and thankfully not a permanent closure

Constantly providing fresh blood for creatures that somehow disappoint most visitors ("Those are vampires? Where? They are so tiny and smelly. Let's go back to the meerkats and ring-tailed lemurs"), keeping them constantly warm and in large nocturnal enclosures (that might be detrimental to breeding) doesn't make them a priority species that also has no conservation value as the last saving grace. They are something for zoological nerds. ^^

Do you Plan on adding venemos and poisonos fish and mammals Like Sting rays, Lion fish, shrews and pygmy slow loris?

"Mandje! Mandje! Timpe Te!
Buttje! Buttje in de See!
Mine Fru, de Ilsebill,
Will nich so, as ick wol will.“
And that's why I don't have any additional venomous fish. :D

So much about messing with me...Guess who's laughing now while you're scratching your heads in confusion?:D:D:D
