Oooh Mhorr gazelles are a great inclusion! Any idea of where they will be housed?
Maybe in the main African plain, where there isn't any small antelope species for a couple of years.Oooh Mhorr gazelles are a great inclusion! Any idea of where they will be housed?
Wait the springbok are no longer at the park? I didn't notice thisMaybe in the main African plain, where there isn't any small antelope species for a couple of years.
Or perhaps in a future new enclosure / zone ?
More the merrier, Mhorr gazelles are probably one of my favourite gazelles... Wish we had ANY over here!Arrival of 2 Mhorr Gazelles, a new species for the park. They remain in the paddocks of the night building for now.
The Barbary Apes are back on show.
The small Tortoise pond in the Gorilla pavilion has been removed and replaced by plants.
Marwell had them for some time into the 2010s .. a pity they never bred well there to my knowledge !More the merrier, Mhorr gazelles are probably one of my favourite gazelles... Wish we had ANY over here!![]()
In regard to South American birds I think it'd be nice if they reclaimed the Golden-headed Quetzal - they had the species for a brief while in 2017.
Might I ask where the springbok were housed? I wasn't aware Beauval ever housed them, but ZTL states that they were present during my visit (2019). If this is true, they would have been the only members of said species that I have ever seen; it is unfortunate I wasn't aware of them...Wait the springbok are no longer at the park? It isn't likely, as this new aviary isn't fit for small and fragile birds, unless there's an annex aviary inside or near the main exhibit. In regard to South American birds I think it'd be nice if they reclaimed the Golden-headed Quetzal - they had the species for a brief while in 2017.
The Springboks lived for many years in the African Plain, they left the zoo in 2020.Might I ask where the springbok were housed? The Mhorr Gazelles may live in both enclosures (African Plain or Wild-ass paddock) but I don't know if in the latter case the Wild Asses or even the Oryxes would accept them, as they never lived with small antelopes.Wait the springbok are no longer at the park? I didn't notice this
The first time I ever saw a black springbok, they had a lovely herd. Mhorr gazelles would make a good inclusion to the large savanna, and if you ask me they'd be nice in the Somali wild-ass paddock as well.
Nop. You just said that there will be 5 mammal species and 500 birds with 19 new species or @SivatheriumGuy asked which species
So to answer him :
- what is quite sure : coatis, giant anteaters, spider monkeys, howler monkeys (and I can say red), american flamingos.
- what was said but never confirmed : peccaries and pudus.
- what we can see on illustruations, newspappers... : brown pelicans, turkey vulturs, king vulturs, scarlet ibis, black-faced ibis, swans, herons, swans, ducks ducks ducks ducks...![]()
Other info heard in a radio record : gibbons will replace the flamingos (who will go in the giant aviary opening next year) on the island at the main entrance. I put a penny on javan gibbons as Beauval has good connection with Aspinall and Java.
